Situation
The OEM deploys field engineers globally to scan mining equipment using 3D scanners for asset health and utilization. Poor scan quality leads to rework, manual correction, and slow turnaround from scan to final report.
Solution
An ongoing AI PoC focuses on scan quality only. An AI model is developed to support engineers on-site by validating scan quality and providing guidance on how to adjust the scan setup. The solution aims to ensure high-quality scans at the source, reduce manual post-processing, and enable a more automated scan-to-report workflow.
Results
Based on early PoC findings, the solution has the potential to significantly reduce rework and manual effort. By ensuring scan quality on-site and enabling a fully automated process from scan to report, the estimated lead time can be reduced from days to minutes after the site visit.
