How multiple operators increased haulage consistency through Komatsu autonomous haulage

AHS integrates GNSS, radar and dispatch for 24/7 cycles. Fleets accumulate 100k+ autonomous hours with fewer interactions.

Context

Human-operated haulage was limited by safety constraints, shift changes, and inconsistent operating patterns. These factors reduced truck utilization and created variability in haul cycle times. More consistent performance was needed to meet production targets.

Solution

An autonomous haulage system was integrated with fleet management and central control. The system coordinated truck movement, optimized routing, and removed the need for constant operator input.

Results

Autonomous trucks achieved milestones exceeding 100,000 autonomous hours each, demonstrating reliable long-duration operation. The transition improved consistency, reduced variability, and delivered strong safety benefits.

Data Inputs

GNSS, radar/LiDAR, dispatch data
